Places at the "Nashörnchen" day-care centre to support childcare at the University of Wuppertal

As a family-friendly university, the University of Wuppertal (BUW) supports its employees who have family commitments. Despite the increasing expansion of childcare facilities, the search for kindergarten places is currently proving difficult, as the expansion does not cover the demand and many employed parents with smaller children wish to have them looked after in a daycare centre close to their workplace. The BUW fulfils this wish by providing six places for employees' children in the nearby "Nashörnchen" daycare centre.

I. Basis of the funding

The funding covers the provision of six places (three U3 places and three Ü3 places) in the "Nashörnchen" daycare centre (Heinz-Fangman-Straße 51). The daycare centre is operated by the company Kita|Concept and can be reached from the main campus within 10 minutes by car.

II Procedure for registering childcare needs

All childcare places are currently occupied.

BUW employees with an urgent need for childcare (e.g. due to a job-related move to Wuppertal) can notify the Family Office of their need using the application form to register a childcare need.

Eligible to apply are all BUW employees whose children are at least 6 months old at the time of admission to the daycare centre.
Employees who are on leave of absence or persons who are employed at the BUW as freelancers or exclusively on a teaching assignment are not eligible to apply. Once the applications have been received, the Equal Opportunities and Diversity Office will evaluate them based on the catalogue of criteria and submit the submitted requirements to the President's Office. The President's Office then decides on the distribution of the place. There is no legal entitlement to a childcare place.
